At DLE SMG we employ seasoned attorney-agents with extensive contractual and negotiation experience to represent our client athletes throughout the contract and endorsement negotiation process. We work as the liason between teams, sponsors and industry entities and our client athletes, so that you do not have to.

DLE SMG employs a unique approach to this process, with a focus on removing the adversarial element of negotiations and replacing it with an eye toward relationship-building. Our efforts are geared toward creating a positive and successful partnership between our client athletes and respective teams or companies.

A quintessential part of our practice is to strategically pair our client athletes with corporate entities so as to broaden their profile above and beyond their accomplishments on the track, course, field, court or road. By analyzing and targeting synergistic relationships between clients and would-be endorsers, DLE SMG can successfully operate both within and outside of the traditional athletic industries. We call the latter, 'non-mainstream opportunities.'

Whether it be local, regional or national pairings, DLE SMG works tirelessly to market our client athletes in all industries so as to raise their brand profile, thereby creating additional financial opportunities outside of the traditional contract. There is a mantra at DLE SMG : "There is neither nobility, nor money, in being the greatest athlete than nobody has ever heard of." Because you train hard, play hard, and race hard, your efforts should not go unnoticed, once the competition is over. Consequently, we work hand in hand with regional, national, and international media outlets to provide the best possible exposure for our client athletes. This is not to 'spin' our clients, but rather to elevate their exposure by drawing attention to their accomplishments. DLE SMG regularly features our client athletes on television, magazines, newspapers, and internet media outlets.

Most imporantly, we believe in giving back. DLE SMG works hand in hand with all of our client athletes to identify a charitable organization with which they would like to work. Be it child advocacy, cancer research, aid to the homeless, HIV/AIDS awareness, or more recently, injured U.S. soldiers returning from Iraq and Afganistan. We believe that good works are essential.

LEGAL ADVISEMENT

DLE SMG has always maintained a strong legal underpinning and is well-positioned to advise our athlete clients on immediate and pressing legal matters. Additionally, we maintain close relationships with prominent law firms who will serve as outside counsel should the necessity arise. This proves valuable not only in the level of contractual fluency required to masterfully negotiate agreements for our client athletes, but also to guide them through the maze of legal intricacies often associated with the lifestyle of a professional athlete. We were founded by an attorney and maintain strong connections within the legal community. Indeed, DLE SMG is a full-service agency with a focus on zealous advocacy and protection of all of our clients.

CAREER LONGEVITY PLANNING

The average career of a professional athlete is roughly 3.5 years and yet the average lifespan of an American continues to improve. In that sense, two things become critical for the professional athlete:

1. Maximize income during peak years of athletic production, and

2. Invest and manage income from said period so that it grows long after the athlete moves on to other endeavors.

That said, it is paramount that client athletes be given the means by which to organize and channel their finances, while saving, investing and fully planning for the future. DLE SMG has worked closely with accountants and financial planners from various institutions and can offer our client athletes a deep pool of accredited professionals from which to choose. This feature is something that we outsource to trusted professionals with proven track records for outstanding service in the areas of accounting and financial planning. While we certainly do not require our client athletes to utilize our financial partners, it is a service we provide for their convenience. We truly are a full-service agency.

Finally, we don't believe in the term "former clients." At DLE SMG you are a part of the family, and therefore, our relationship does not end when your competitive career draws to a close. DLE seeks to support and simplify the sometimes difficult transition from professional athlete to working professional. We actively work with our client athletes to move them into areas of professional interest and compatabililty.
